Care
The leather part should be cared for with EGO7 Boot Cream to maintain elasticity and durability. Leather boots must dry after wearing and be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place — always away from direct heat or sunlight to avoid cracks and hardening.
The EGO7 Boot Cream leather conditioner also offers surface protection against aggressive environmental influences and preserves the ideal moisture and the beautiful appearance of the material. Apply the EGO7 Boot Cream carefully with a brush and make sure to cover the entire leather surface. Leave it to work for a few minutes and polish with a wool cloth. Use boot trees so the boots keep their original shape. The practical inflatable boot trees help keep them perfectly in shape.
The inner part made of E-tex material, which provides extra durability and resistance, needs NO CARE. That means: no polish, no cream, no sprays and no greases. Chemicals could damage the material irreversibly. Clean it with a damp cloth to remove dirt.
Zips
We like to compare zips to a car tyre so you can better understand some mechanical aspects. The lifespan of the zips mainly depends on how you treat them — just as the condition of your car tyre depends on your driving style, the road conditions and the mileage. So here are a few extra tips:
We recommend supporting the zip with your fingers the first time you put the boots on, without pulling or straining it too hard.
When putting on and taking off the riding boots, always make sure the zip is fully open. You can use the practical inner pull tab to put them on.
Cleaning the zip is important: dirt such as grease or sweat can hinder normal opening and closing and eventually lead to tearing or sudden breakage.
Also make sure that your clothing or other items do not get caught in the zip mechanism.

How to find the right size for your riding boots
Use the manufacturer's size chart
Every manufacturer cuts differently. Always use the size chart for the specific model and check whether it lists your leg measurements or the boot measurements. At Busse the figures are in the size, for example ‘39 NN · leg 46 cm · calf 34–36 cm’: your leg measurements are leg height 46 cm and calf circumference 34–36 cm.
Measure foot length
Measure the foot length from the longest toe to the heel, ideally in the afternoon or evening, and compare it with the manufacturer's size chart.
Measure leg height (calf height)
Bend the leg slightly and mark the lowest crease in the hollow of the knee. Then straighten the leg again and measure at the back from the floor to the mark. It is most accurate if a second person helps you.
Measure calf circumference
Measure both calves at several points and take the widest circumference of the larger leg. If the manufacturer specifies a different measuring method, follow that.
Clothing and time of day
When measuring, wear the breeches and riding socks you will later wear in the boot, and measure at the time of day when you usually ride.
Choosing the size
- Choose height and width exactly as the size chart states for your measurements. Do not deliberately buy tighter or taller.
- Many manufacturers, e.g. Busse, have already factored leather settling into their measurements. A new leather boot therefore sits a little higher and firmer at first. That is intentional and not a reason to choose a different size.
- Boots with a synthetic shaft keep their shape – here the measurement should fit straight away.
- Heel and ankle need a little play so you can ride comfortably.
